Roll Tide - UNDEFEATED SEASON

Saturday, NOVEMBER 29, 2008.

ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We just beat Auburn tonight!!! Horraaaay! I am so ecstatic we have an 12-0 undefeated season. Bring on the gators!! We will play Florida next weekend for the SEC championship here in Atlanta. I wish we could say we were going, but the tickets are expensive and we'd have to get a sitter for Ben, so I think we will just watch it at home. Though, I'd REALLY love to go to the game.

Happy Thanksgiving

Thursday, NOVEMBER 27, 2008

Happy Thanksgiving! It was a Vollmer Family first. We decided not to travel home to Alabama this year for Thanksgiving. Both of our mom's have had health issues, so we didn't want to impose our chaos on them. So I decided to cook the traditional meal (read way too much food). We invited our friends Noel and Shristie who are from India for lunch and also invited Ingrid (Ben's Nanny)(and my saving grace) to eat with us. We had such a nice time together! Ben sat at the table with us in his high chair. He had sweet potatos (Gerber) but I did give him just a taste of my sweet potato casserole. It had just a little thicker consistancy. He seemed to really like it. We have decided he is about to outgrow his "#1" foods and we will be moving to "#2" foods the next time I go to the grocery store.

Overall we had a lovely day. I'm not including a picture here because somehow Michael erased all our Thanksgiving day pictures from his cell phone. We will try to get some that our friends took. If we do, I'll try to come back and post one here.

I can't believe November is all most over! Where did the month go? I'll try to do a better job of updating this blog for December.

Happy Halloween!

OCTOBER 31, 2008

Ben's very first Halloween! What a cute pumpkin we have! Ben was great and we just went to 2-3 neighbors houses. Then another couple came over (friends of ours) and we hung out, ordered pizza and handed out candy to all the other little children in the neighborhood. Noel and Shristie were dressed up (so cute/scary). Michael and I had a blast dressing up the baby and taking him to visit our neighbors! Poor baby, even though he collected candy, all he got to eat last night was baby food carrots (hey.... at least it was orange). When we took his costume off, he still looked super cute in an outfit Stacey bought him with a mummy on it. It says "Mummy Loves Me" LOL. So cute! We all had a wonderful family holiday. We can't wait to have all his "first" holidays. We are so blessed.

Visiting Grandparents

OCTOBER 16- 26

We visit Alabama. Ok, so when you go anywhere with a baby for 10 days, you might as well move your entire house. (or all the baby stuff within your house). We went to spend some time with our families. We had a great time visiting with grandparents (Ben's), Great-grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Great-Aunts and Uncles, Cousins and friends! What a wonderful, exhausting trip! My Mom watched the baby while Michael and I worked remotely. I think the baby really wore out my parents that week, but I know they loved every minute of it.

Visit from Stacey

OCTOBER 10, 2008

Stacey comes to visit! One of my best friends, Stacey, came to visit us in Atlanta! She just got out of the Air Force and is starting her transition to civilian life. We are so lucky she drove through Georgia on the way to her new home in Virginia. I had a very relaxing weekend just hanging out with her and catching up. She met Ben for the first time and he loved her immediately! What a fun weekend. :-)

Starting Rice Cereal

Monday, OCTOBER 6, 2008

Tonight we gave Ben his first taste of Rice Cereal. We put two tablespoons in his bottle before bedtime. I must say he really liked it. I hope this will help him start consistantly sleeping through the night. I weighed him today (as best I could) and I think he weighs around 18 pounds! Can you believe it? He will turn 4 months old this coming Friday... on his Uncle Thomas's birthday. Wish us luck that there is truth to everyone telling us Rice cereal will help him sleep. :-)

My Aunt Niki Loves Me!

Monday, October 6, 2008

Aunt Niki bought Ben his first pumpkin shirt. Thank You Aunt Niki! The only really good shot I got of him was in his changing table on the pack n play. I also got a shot of him when Mom was holding him. Yes, I've already bought his Haloween costume.... but you MUST WAIT. I will post some pictures of him in his costume closer to Haloween (and whenever I get enough time to get him dressed and have the camera ready). But for now, this SUPER CUTE shirt will be great for him to wear all month.

Stroller

So now that it's getting a little chilly in the mornings, I'm having to bundle up the baby. We had a nice stroll in his new umbrella stroller. We also sit out on the deck on most mornings and I keep his little Pooh hat on him. What a charmer!

Alabama Good Luck Charm

Saturday, October 3, 2008

I knew it. Ben is the lucky charm for the Crimson Tide! Ben LOVES to watch football with his Dad. In turn, Michael loves to watch football with his son and get a few laughs in too. Here is a shot of Michael trying his Alabama cap on the baby. TOO CUTE.

Grandparents Visit

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27

Ben got a visit from his grandparents this weekend! I don't know who was more excited, Ben or my Mom and Dad. We had lots of fun singing, squealing, laughing and bouncing Ben on our knees (riding the pony). Here are a few of my favorite snapshots of the weekend.

Watching Football with Dad

SEPTEMBER 17,2008

So Ben has already learned to LOVE watching football with his Dad. I'm in my third week back to work. I must admit it has been challenging (yes, I've shed many tears), but my company has been great and has agreed to let me work from home three days a week. In light of this we decided to hire a nanny. We have to give the daycare 2 weeks notice (which we did this week) and can't wait to have Ms. Hapgood (Ingrid) start caring for Ben on Sept. 29th. As a mom, I'm so excited I will get to see Ben more and truly only be away from him 2 days a week!

Ben's latest tricks: He has discovered his tongue! He loves to stick it out a lot. It really cracks me up. Also he used his bouncer in the doorway for the first time. I still think he is a little small for it, but it won't be long before he is jumping away!

Sitting in Bumbo seat

SEPTEMBER 1, 2008

Ben sat up in his bumbo this week for the first time. His neck is really strong now so he can hold his head up a little longer. He is still a little bit of a bobble head though! He also rolled over for the first time this past week. He was on a flat pillow and decided he wanted to be closer to mommy while she was folding laundry. I was surprised, so I put him back on the pillow... and sure enough he did it again. I go back to work tomorrow and am a very, very, very sad mommy.

Family and BAMA photos

AUGUST 20, 2008

AUGUST 20, 2008
Ben is 10 weeks old now. We went to have our first family portrait made this week. I also decided it would be fun to have some "BAMA" pictures made as well. We took his Alabama gown, football, elephant and pom poms to the studio. I think they turned out great! "ROLL TIDE"!!!! Michael is so excited to have a son to watch football with!

2 Months Old - Ben Chair

AUGUST 9, 2008

Today was a busy day for us. It's Saturday and tomorrow Ben will be two months old. Our neighbor Jean came by this morning for a visit and drug us outside -- and it was so NICE out. We sat in the driveway and watched her grandchildren play. Then when I asked about our other neighbor Jane (who recently had a stroke), Jean convinced me to walk down the street with the bay to visit her. It was a really nice visit.

We then went to the church this afternoon for a baby shower for our Young Adult Minister's wife. Ben was a PERFECT ANGEL. Two pregnant moms at the shower said we made it look easy - HA! They are in for a rude awakening. :-) But Ben was really great and really didn't make a peep for 2 hours. When we got home he was in such a cute outfit and a good mood, I decided to let him sit in his little "Ben" lounge chair and take a few pictures. Below is what we got. Also, I included a super cute picture of my "Silly Monkey" (see onsie below) sitting in our rocking chair!

Whew, what a busy Saturday.... time to settle down and watch the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Thomas & Niki's Wedding

AUGUST 2, 2008

Ben gets to attend his Uncle Thomas's Wedding. Ben is already in love with his Aunt Niki. These are just a couple of shots from before the wedding.

Professional Shots

JULY 23, 2008

Ben is six weeks old. We had a few shots made on my birthday (not planned).
But I thought they turned out pretty good. I LOVE the one of his feet!!!

Random Snapshots

Having a baby is so much FUN and so much WORK. :-) I'm really enjoying motherhood. I had Ben on the bed and decided to take a few pictures of him while he was in a happy mood. These were taken and my mom's house.

Butler Cradle and Cousin Al

Ben meets his cousin Al ..... and immediately SPITS UP (think projectile). :-) I'm not sure how I got Al to hold the baby after that! Ha Ha.

When staying a Gran's house, Ben has the "Butler Craddle" to take naps in. This craddle has been passed around and used by almost all of the Butler grandchildren and great grandchildren.

New Hope- Meeting Family

After arriving in New Hope for the first time in late June. Ben is greeted by a stream of family members who want to meet him. First up are his great grandmothers, "Nan Nan" (Imogene Butler, Jennifer's Dad's Mom) and "Ma Ma" (Jennifer's Mom's Mom). He also meets Aunt Karen, Uncle Albert and Aunt Helen.

Ben is just starting to realize what a large and loving family he has. What a blessing to have so much love surrounding him!

Maw Maw Miller

JULY 5, 2008

Maw Maw Miller and Kieth come to visit! Baby Ben loves his Maw Maw Miller!!!
